Tell us a little about your background: I’m an entrepreneur with a love of people and business. I began my free market capitalist ways in elementary school and have never looked back. The creativity and contribution that business affords anyone is truly amazing.
Education has made a huge contribution to my life. Thanks to the hard work of my parents, I was lucky enough to attend Shady Side Academy (1973) in Pittsburgh, PA and Lehigh University (1977) where I earned a BS in Business and Economics. My MBA is from The Darden School at the University of Virginia (1982).
In 1984, I founded the corporation that does business today as On-Purpose Partners. What began as a business in commercial real estate development transformed into a boutique firm offering business and personal leadership advisory services. We’re small, yet international in terms of partners and clientele.
What are 2 or 3 notable achievements you’d like to share?
-
Pioneer of The On-Purpose® Approach
-
Author: The On-Purpose Person and The On-Purpose Business
-
Judith and I celebrate 25 years of marriage in April 2009 and two great teenagers.
How I got to where I am today? Aspiration, Preparation, Inspiration, Perspiration combined with Family, Faith, and the Good Fortune to be a US Citizen.
Why I do what I do: I see so many people (and organizations) mired in mediocrity when they don’t have to be. The On-Purpose® Approach is so amazingly profitably to clients personally, professionally, and organizationally that I am compelled to share and advise.
Best books I've read lately: The Practice of the Presence of God, Brother Lawrence Secrets of the Vine, Bruce Wilkinson The Daily Drucker, Peter Drucker
My Mentor/Coach: John Smith (Really! That’s his name.) We get together once a month since April 1990.
I read biographies and find many virtual mentors this way.
Words to live by or favorite quote: Be On-Purpose!
What I do in my free time/hobbies: Exercise, follow politics and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bible studies, hang with family, play a little tennis and golf, walk the dog and talk with my wife, and nap.
